Education encompasses the theory and practice of teaching and learning — how knowledge is transmitted, constructed, contested, and transformed, and how people come to understand.

Disciplines

  • Pedagogy — the study and craft of teaching: how to design lessons, sequence curricula, and create conditions for understanding
  • Learning — the study of how understanding develops: what happens cognitively, socially, and experientially when someone comes to know something new
  • Knowledge Transmission — the study of how knowledge moves between people, across generations, and through communities, and what is lost or transformed in transit

Curricula
