Divination
Interpretive practices that seek insight, guidance, or knowledge through the reading of patterns, signs, or chance events. Includes astrology, scrying, tarot, and the broader theory of divinatory practice.
Teleology: To produce structured reflection and insight by reading signs within culturally situated interpretive frameworks.
Method: Semiotic sign-reading and pattern interpretation – a medium generates signs (cards, stars, visions), a reader interprets them within a symbolic vocabulary, and the interaction between chance configuration and interpretive framework surfaces meaning that habitual thought obscures.
