Curricula for understanding fungal biology — from basic fungal structure through ecology to symbiotic networks. Each lesson builds on the previous; prerequisites are listed in each lesson’s frontmatter.
Lessons
- Fungal Biology Fundamentals — what fungi are, the fungal body (hyphae, mycelium, septa), fruiting bodies, spores, and major groups. No prerequisites.
- Fungal Biochemistry and Nutrition — heterotrophy, extracellular digestion, cellulose, lignin, white-rot vs. brown-rot, and the Carboniferous connection. Requires lesson 1.
- Fungal Ecology — saprotrophs, mycorrhizal mutualists, lichens, pathogens, and nutrient cycling. Requires lesson 2.
- Mycorrhizal Networks and Connectivity — the wood wide web, resource flows, hub trees, competition, and forestry implications. Requires lesson 3.
