Analyze Mycorrhizal Network

Given a forest or plant community:

  1. Identify the likely mycorrhizal type (ectomycorrhizal or arbuscular) based on the dominant plant species.
  2. Describe the network structure: which trees are likely hub nodes, which are peripheral.
  3. Identify the resources being exchanged: carbon, phosphorus, nitrogen, water, signaling molecules.
  4. Assess directionality: which organisms are likely net providers vs net receivers.
  5. Evaluate network resilience: what would happen if hub trees were removed (logging, disease)?
  6. Connect to management implications: how forestry practices affect network integrity.
