Synchronization

The deliberate arrangement of activities in time, space, and purpose so distributed actions converge; often expressed through synchronization matrices and coordinating instructions.
Defines synchronization

Synchronization is the deliberate arrangement of activities in time, space, and purpose so distributed actions converge.

Synchronization is where planning becomes “real” for multi-unit operations. It requires:

  • a shared operational approach and phasing,
  • task and purpose for each unit,
  • explicit control measures and priorities,
  • and an agreed battle rhythm for updates and decisions.

A useful product is a synchronization matrix that aligns phases, tasks, decision points, and key events across units and staff functions.
