Indigenous Philosophy

Indigenous Philosophy

Philosophical traditions of Indigenous peoples. These are not pre-philosophical or proto-philosophical โ€” they are philosophical traditions with their own epistemologies, ontologies, and ethical frameworks.

The library’s grounding in Lakota epistemologies means Indigenous philosophy is not a peripheral addition but a structuring commitment. The formal architecture (the relational universe) is built on relational ontology arrived at through Indigenous thought, not on Western substance metaphysics.
