A wellness center is a grassroots care space that provides rest, support, and other forms of survival infrastructure alongside or beyond emergency treatment [@madrprograms2024].
Within emergent disaster response, the term matters because disasters generate needs that are medical, emotional, social, and organizational at the same time. A wellness center helps address that wider field of care rather than limiting response to immediate triage.
